Trusted bath resealing in Eliburn

Bath resealing in Eliburn without replacing anything

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops using mould-resistant silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. We are frequently asked to fix gaps in the seal and damp near the bath, on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

What happens on the day

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to around two hours, including clearing up.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

When to call us in Eliburn

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Stained silicone
  • Damp near the bath

Our hiring checklist

What affects the price in Eliburn

You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • The material
  • How much damage there is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Any details about the material
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Questions from Eliburn

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you come to Eliburn?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Eliburn for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

How long does silicone take to cure?

You will get the curing time from us, generally around a day.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Why reseal now?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.
