Bath resealing in Forty Hill

Resealing in Forty Hill: why it matters

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Bath resealing in Forty Hill without replacing anything

All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Our technicians work on basins & vanity units, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures, and people most frequently call us about black mould in the sealant and leaks at the edges.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Keep the joints dry

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Greater London and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Forty Hill use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

FAQs for Forty Hill

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Normally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

How long before I can shower?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Generally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

How we price bath resealing

We do not charge extra for travel to Forty Hill. The price depends on:

  • The type of damage
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Any details about the material
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We will say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.
