How we handle bath resealing in Fulford
The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Whether it’s an untidy old seal and old sealant that looks dirty, we can help.
All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Fulford and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Fulford questions
How quickly can you book me in?
Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
Can you quote from photos?
In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Fulford.
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Will there be a smell?
Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.
Why does my sealant keep splitting?
The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.
Can you reseal over the old silicone?
We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.
When to call us in Fulford
No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.
Get in touch if you’ve noticed:
- Missing sealant behind the taps
- Water getting behind the bath or tray
- Sealant that is split or lifting

What a repair cannot fix
A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. We cannot fix:
- Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- Movement in the bath or tray
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
Materials we repair
- Baths
- Basins & vanity units

- Shower trays & enclosures
- Wet rooms
Is resealing worth it?
Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

What happens on the day
Visits start with a quick look at the job together. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. Allow around two hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.
- We cut out all of the old sealant.
- Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
- Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
- The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
- We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.
Getting ready for the visit
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

What affects the price in Fulford
Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:
- How hard the colour is to match
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- What kind of damage it is
- The size and number of damaged areas
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.
Quotes from your pictures
Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Ensure they show:
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- A photo taken from further back
- Natural light rather than flash
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
Aftercare tips
A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:
- Give the seal a regular clean
- Use the extractor fan
- Do not stand toiletries on the seal
- Open a window after bathing
Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.
Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
