Bath resealing for Rawcliffe homes

Bath resealing in Rawcliffe, done in place

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. Typical jobs include unsealed corners and leaks at the edges, across wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in York.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Rawcliffe questions

How long before I can shower?

Generally after around 24 hours. We’ll tell you the exact time.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Is there any odour?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

How long does a reseal take?

Normally a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Typically poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • A flexing bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

The process

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes about two hours for a bath, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Advice

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

What bath resealing costs

Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The type of damage
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How much damage there is

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Why it’s worth resealing in Rawcliffe

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • One price list for the entire UK

What we are called out for in Rawcliffe

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Unsealed corners
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Aftercare advice
