What we are called out for in Gors

No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Common reasons people in Gors contact us are:

  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Damp near the bath
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

Bath resealing in Gors without replacing anything

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Common call-outs are for a messy previous reseal and damp near the bath, across shower trays & enclosures, baths and wet rooms.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

What affects the price in Gors

A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Access to the area

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

Phone pictures are fine. Make sure they show:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower

Upload a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Gors, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Aftercare tips

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, typically around 24 hours.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Why reseal now?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

What a repair can’t fix

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units

How it works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes around two hours. The room is left tidy.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
