Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

How we handle bath resealing in Hamsey Green

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. If you are dealing with stained silicone and black mould in the sealant, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Your questions about bath resealing in Hamsey Green

How long does a reseal take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Do you come to Hamsey Green?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Hamsey Green. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

What happens after I send pictures?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can new silicone go over old?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

How we price bath resealing

We charge the same across the UK, including Hamsey Green. What changes the price is:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material
  • How many areas need work
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Resealing in Hamsey Green: why it matters

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

What we cannot put right

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

The process

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so you know exactly what we are doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow a couple of hours, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Getting a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Let steam out after showers

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
