How to compare quotes

Bath resealing at your home in Hartfordbridge

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, in a neat, continuous bead. Typical jobs include missing sealant behind the taps and silicone coming away from the tiles, across shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and basins & vanity units.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What we do, step by step

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job generally takes a couple of hours. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Repairs by material

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Honest limits

We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Hidden water damage
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Air the room after use
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Common questions in Hartfordbridge

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Mould needs moisture. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

How we price bath resealing

You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Getting a price from photos

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Where you are, by postcode

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
