Bath resealing in Hunny Hill without replacing anything

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We work on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people contact us are gaps by the taps and water getting behind the bath or tray.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Resealing in Hunny Hill: why it matters

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow about two hours for a bath from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Clear the area around the damage

Advice

Prices and what affects them

There is no area surcharge for Hunny Hill. What changes the price is:

  • Access to the area
  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How much damage there is

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

How to get a fixed price

Phone pictures are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your PO30 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

How to care for the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Use the extractor fan

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
