Bath resealing at your home in Itchen

Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they keep water out. We regularly repair shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are damp near the bath and black spots in the silicone.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Your questions about bath resealing in Itchen

Do you seal over the old sealant?

No, we never seal over old silicone. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

What happens if you find more damage?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

What happens after I send photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. You are under no obligation.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in Itchen?

Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before you book.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

How long does a reseal take?

Around two hours for a bath, then it needs to cure.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Southampton and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Itchen use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

What affects the price in Itchen

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage
  • Whether we combine several jobs

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your photos

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A photo taken from further back

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take around two hours. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Ask for a price

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.
