FAQs for Northam

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Northam included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

What happens after I send photos?

We come back with a fixed price, normally with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Bath resealing at your home in Northam

Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Fresh joints make the whole room look cleaner, and they keep water out. Typical jobs include leaks at the edges and a messy previous reseal, in basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • A flexing bath
  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

10 questions to ask before booking

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to care for the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Air the room after use

Avoid scraping the joints, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Repairs by material

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for about two hours for a bath. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
