Bath resealing for King's Thorn homes

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

Bath resealing in King's Thorn without replacing anything

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. Common call-outs are for leaks at the edges and old sealant that looks dirty, on wet rooms, baths and basins & vanity units.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

What we do, step by step

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes about two hours for a bath. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

What bath resealing costs

Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

For a price in King's Thorn, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

How much does bath resealing cost in King's Thorn?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Resealing in King's Thorn: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Let steam out after showers

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
