Bath resealing at your home in Much Birch
A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. We regularly repair wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are water getting behind the bath or tray and silicone smeared on tiles.
Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Why it’s worth resealing in Much Birch
Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
What you get with us
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- We leave the room as we found it
- We come to you, anywhere in the UK
- One visit for most repairs

Common problems we fix in Much Birch
Sealant does not last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Stained silicone
- Gaps in the seal
- Black spots in the silicone
- Damp near the bath
What your quote should include
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- How soon you can use it again
- What aftercare is recommended
- Whether they match the colour on site
Repairs by material
Baths
We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.
Shower trays
We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.
What a repair cannot fix
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- Very wide gaps that need a trim
- A flexing bath
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
What we work on
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Wet rooms
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
The process
Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes around two hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.
- We cut out all of the old sealant.
- Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
- We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
- The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
- New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.
How to prepare
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

What affects the price in Much Birch
There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- How easy the damage is to reach
- The type of damage
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Doing more than one item at once
No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Send pictures for a quote
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Any details about the material
- Natural light rather than flash
No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
FAQs for Much Birch
Is there a call-out fee?
Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Do you seal over the old sealant?
No, we never seal over old silicone. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.
Can you quote from pictures?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.
Are you accredited?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?
Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.
How quickly can you book me in?
That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
Do you cover the entire of Herefordshire?
The whole UK, including all of Herefordshire. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.
Keeping it looking good
How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:
- Clean the sealant gently and regularly
- Air the room after use
- Replace the seal when mould sets in
- Store bottles on a shelf
Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.
Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
