Bath & shower resealing (mastic) in Kirkby, Knowsley
Bath, shower and sink resealing with new mould-resistant silicone for householders, landlords and businesses in Kirkby. Free, fixed quotes from your photos.
- Old sealant that looks dirty
- Silicone smeared on tiles
- Gaps by the taps

Bath resealing at your home in Kirkby
Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. We work on shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths, and people most frequently call us about a messy previous reseal and silicone coming away from the tiles.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Kirkby as everywhere else we work.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Keeping it looking good
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:
- Wipe the joints dry after use
- Air the room after use
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Clean the sealant gently and regularly
Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.
Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
When a repair is not the answer
It helps to know what we cannot do:
- Very wide gaps that need a trim
- Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
- A flexing bath
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.
What we work on
- Baths
- Basins & vanity units
- Wet rooms
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Sinks and worktops
Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.
Shower trays
Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.
Why reseal now?
A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

The process
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.
- We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
- Old sealant and residue are removed.
- The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
- Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.
How to prepare
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Clear the area around the damage
How to get a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

What affects the price in Kirkby
Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- What the surface is made of
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- The size and number of damaged areas
We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Kirkby. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Getting a price from photos
When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Natural light rather than flash
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Any details about the material
For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
FAQs for Kirkby
Does someone need to be in?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.
What happens once I’ve sent photos?
We come back with a fixed price, generally with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.
Are you accredited?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Do the materials smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.
Will the price change on the day?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.
Is repairing better than replacing?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
