Need a repair in L32?

Bath repair across L32: what to expect

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Typical jobs include damage done while the bathroom was being fitted and rust by the waste and overflow, on acrylic, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to a few hours.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

What you will pay

Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for L32. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Local landmarks in Kirkby

Typical jobs here are in homes near Kirkby CofE Primary School, St Chad's Church and The Market Tavern. Also close by are All Saints Catholic High School (less than half a mile south) and Valley Park (under half a mile west). For rail, the closest station is Headbolt Lane station, roughly 0.6 miles north. Well-known places in the area include Merseyside Fire & Rescue Museum (3.4 miles west) and Fazakerley (2 miles south-west).

Honest limits

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense

Repair or replace?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you.

What your quote should include

  • What prep work is covered
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Who turns up on the day
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

L32 questions

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes, we do this frequently. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there’s access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Frequently, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
