Bath resealing near Lanivet

How we handle bath resealing in Lanivet

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they keep water out. We’re frequently asked to fix black spots in the silicone and sealant that’s split or lifting, across basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and baths.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Lanivet: your questions answered

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

How long before I can shower?

Typically after around 24 hours. We confirm before we leave.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

What happens on the day

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a couple of hours. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Common problems we fix in Lanivet

Even good sealant eventually discolours. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • A messy previous reseal

What to look for in a quote

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • When it can be used again
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included

Choosing a repair company

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units

How we price bath resealing

We don’t charge extra for travel to Lanivet. The price depends on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

Phone photos are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lanivet as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
