When a repair isn’t the answer

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • A flexing bath
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Hidden water damage

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms

Bath resealing in Little Ribston, done in place

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, plus curing time. We regularly repair wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are mould you can’t clean out and unsealed corners.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

The process

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes around two hours, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to care for the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

FAQs for Little Ribston

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed price, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.

Can new silicone go over old?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Typically poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Do you cover Little Ribston?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Little Ribston and the rest of Leeds. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Movement is the usual cause. We seal baths full of water.

How we price bath resealing

Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Little Ribston. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any details about the material

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
