Trusted bath resealing in Meare

Bath resealing at your home in Meare

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. Typical jobs include stained silicone and mould you can’t clean out, across kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

How to look after the repair

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Air the room after use

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

What we’re called out for in Meare

Poor ventilation speeds things up: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould takes hold.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Unsealed corners
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Black spots in the silicone

How to compare quotes

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing costs very little and protects the walls and floor. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why book with us

Meare questions

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

How long before I can shower?

You’ll get the curing time from us.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Somerset.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

Prices and what affects them

A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How much damage there is
  • The type of damage
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and no obligation.

When we would advise against a repair

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A flexing bath
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Meare, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Somerset and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
