Bath resealing for Moor Side homes

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Bath resealing at your home in Moor Side

All of the old sealant is cut out, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. Typical jobs include discoloured, yellow sealant and sealant that’s split or lifting, on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and wet rooms.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Moor Side as everywhere else we work.

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Moor Side: your questions answered

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Typically poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the entire UK, including Moor Side and the rest of Kirklees. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll offer you dates.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

No, we never seal over old silicone. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

What happens next?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Common problems we fix in Moor Side

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Leaks at the edges

What to look for in a quote

  • When it can be used again
  • Aftercare advice
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

How to compare quotes

How we price bath resealing

We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Access to the area

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Send photos for a quote

You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

For a price in Moor Side, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

How it works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take around two hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Let steam out after showers

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Is resealing worth it?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.
