Bath resealing in New York without replacing anything

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. Common call-outs are for unsealed corners and black spots in the silicone, on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

When we’d advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Signs you need bath resealing in New York

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: damp hangs around, and mould takes hold.

10 questions to ask before booking

Why reseal now?

Resealing costs very little. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
