Bath resealing for North End homes

How we handle bath resealing in North End

Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Fresh joints make the entire room look cleaner, and they protect the walls and floor. Typical jobs include discoloured, yellow sealant and sealant that’s split or lifting, across shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and baths.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

North End questions

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

How long does silicone take to cure?

You will get the curing time from us.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath or shower and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

When to call us in North End

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

The things customers typically mention when they call include:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Damp near the bath
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing to keep mould away.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Greater London and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

What we can’t put right

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for about two hours for a bath from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
