Bath resealing near North Kilworth

Bath resealing at your home in North Kilworth

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. If you are dealing with sealant that’s split or lifting and an untidy old seal, we can help, on baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units alike.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in North Kilworth and across Leicestershire.

How we price bath resealing

We don’t charge extra for travel to North Kilworth. The price comes down to:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The type of damage

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed price

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it
  • Natural light rather than flash

To get a price, send two or three pictures through our quote form or call us. We will say right away if a repair is the right fix.

What we are called out for in North Kilworth

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Stained silicone
  • Gaps by the taps

10 questions to ask before you book

When a repair isn’t the answer

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A flexing bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Use the extractor fan

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Common questions in North Kilworth

How long does silicone take to cure?

Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

The process

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes about two hours for a bath, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around North Kilworth, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.
