How we handle bath repair in Northam

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Typical jobs include a cracked acrylic bath and chips on the rim or sides, across acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

Landlord and trade work in Northam

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The colour and finish to match

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

You can take the photos on your phone. Just make sure we can see:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • The material, if you know it
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

If you’re in Northam and want a price, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Why repair rather than replace?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Most jobs done in one visit

When a repair isn’t the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.

What we’re called out for in Northam

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, with dropped shower heads close behind. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

What your quote should include

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • What preparation is included
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • How long it needs to cure

Northam questions

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Southampton.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Do you cover Northam?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Northam. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

The process

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. It normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
