Your questions about bath resealing in Norton Subcourse
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.
How long does a reseal take?
Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
Do you come to Norton Subcourse?
Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Norton Subcourse. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
How do I stop mould in sealant?
Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote with dates.
Can you price it without visiting?
Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
Which areas do you work in?
Across the UK, so Norton Subcourse is covered. Prices don’t change with location.
Bath resealing in Norton Subcourse, done in place
Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. We regularly repair kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are old sealant that looks dirty and unsealed corners.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

- We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
- Old sealant and residue are removed.
- We clean, treat and dry the joint.
- We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Related advice
Repairs by material
Shower trays
We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.
Sinks and worktops
Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.
How we price bath resealing
We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- The type of damage
- How many items we do on one visit
- The material and finish
What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
Quotes from your pictures
You can take the photos on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Ensure they show:
- Details of any past repairs
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Common problems we fix in Norton Subcourse
Joints split if the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed with the bath empty.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Old sealant that looks dirty
- Damp near the bath
- Gaps in the seal
- Gaps by the taps
Questions to ask before you book
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Keeping it looking good
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
- Ventilate the bathroom well
- Air the room after use
- Dry the seal after bathing
Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.
If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.
Is resealing worth it?
A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Norton Subcourse. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
