Need bath resealing in Old Town?

Bath resealing at your home in Old Town

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint opens fully, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. We work on basins & vanity units, baths and wet rooms, and common reasons people get in touch are black spots in the silicone and stained silicone.

In older homes in a village like Old Town, walls and floors can move a little, which is hard on sealant. We fill the bath before sealing so the joint lasts.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Common problems we fix in Old Town

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould takes hold.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Leaks at the edges

What your quote should include

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How the colour is matched
  • What happens if they find more damage

Our hiring checklist

How to care for the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep the joints dry

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing to keep mould away.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Why it’s worth resealing in Old Town

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. For a rural home like those around Old Town, a replacement means trades travelling out and waste being taken away, while bath resealing is one trip.

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

FAQs for Old Town

Will you travel to Old Town?

Yes, villages and hamlets are part of our area.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

No, we never seal over old silicone. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we tidy up before we leave.

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower normally takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Prices and what affects them

We give every job a fixed quote from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Something in shot to show the size

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring all our kit in the van, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. It generally takes a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there. In a village or hamlet like Old Town, access can be the only tricky part. Once we are there, the bath resealing works exactly as anywhere else.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

How to get a price
