Bath & shower resealing (mastic) in Portrack, Middlesbrough
Fixed-price bath resealing in Portrack and the surrounding area, done in a single visit in most cases and guaranteed for a year.
- Water getting behind the bath or tray

When to call us in Portrack
Joints split if the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed while the bath was empty.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- Gaps by the taps
- Old sealant that looks dirty
- Black mould in the sealant
- Sealant that is split or lifting
What your quote should include
- If travel is included in the price
- How soon you can use it again
- What protection goes down before work starts
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
Bath resealing in Portrack without replacing anything
We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. We regularly repair kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and baths, and common reasons people contact us are silicone smeared on tiles and sealant that’s split or lifting.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

The process
When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job typically takes a couple of hours. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
- We clean the joint and treat any mould.
- We dry the joint thoroughly.
- For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
- We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear the area around the damage
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Keep a parking space free if you can

Is resealing worth it?
Resealing costs very little. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Portrack. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to look after the repair
To keep it looking its best:
- Dry the seal after bathing
- Reseal when black spots will not clean off
- Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
- Ventilate the bathroom well
Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.
Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.
How we price bath resealing
A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:
- Doing more than one item at once
- How much damage there is
- The material
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.
Getting a price from photos
You can take the pictures on your phone. Ensure they show:
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- The material, if you know it
- Details of any past repairs
- Something in shot to show the size
For a price in Portrack, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
