About our bath resealing in Round Green

A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. Common call-outs are for an untidy old seal and black spots in the silicone, in baths, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Usually after around 24 hours. We confirm before we leave.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

How long does resealing take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

Do you cover the entire of Luton?

Resealing in Round Green: why it matters

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Round Green. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Round Green

  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Read our prices page.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

How we price bath resealing

There is no area surcharge for Round Green. What changes the price is:

  • Access to the area
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What kind of damage it is

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
