Bath resealing in Sedgley, done in place

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, in a neat, continuous bead. If you are dealing with gaps in the seal and discoloured, yellow sealant, we can normally put it right.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

How to care for the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Keep the joints dry

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow around two hours. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

Landlord and trade work in Sedgley

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Do you need bath resealing in Sedgley?

In time, even good sealant discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

People usually call us after spotting something like this:

  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

What to look for in a quote

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What prep work is covered

Sedgley questions

Do you come to Sedgley?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Sedgley for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

How much does bath resealing cost in Sedgley?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
