About our bath resealing in Wren's Nest

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. We regularly repair baths, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures, and people most often call us about missing sealant behind the taps and an untidy old seal.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What we can’t put right

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Questions from Wren's Nest

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

How long will it take?

Usually a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

What bath resealing costs

Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area
  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Email us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your DY1 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

What we’re called out for in Wren's Nest

In time, even good sealant discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Who will actually do the work
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Choosing a repair company

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Is resealing worth it?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why us?

  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

Take a look at our pricing.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes around two hours. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know about parking or access
