Bath resealing in Sleights

About our bath resealing in Sleights

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. We work on baths, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are leaks at the edges and discoloured, yellow sealant.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow about two hours for a bath. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Why reseal now?

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Why book with us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Landlord and trade work in Sleights

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Common problems we fix in Sleights

Even good sealant eventually discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Gaps in the seal
  • Damp near the bath
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

What your quote should include

  • What preparation is included
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • How long it needs to cure
  • If travel is included in the price

10 questions to ask before booking

Questions from Sleights

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower generally takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Do you cover Sleights?

We do. Technicians travel to Sleights from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
