Bath resealing near St Nicholas

Bath resealing in St Nicholas, done in place

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We regularly repair shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are black spots in the silicone and a messy previous reseal.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Resealing in St Nicholas: why it matters

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Why St Nicholas clients choose us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • One visit for most repairs

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

How it works

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes about two hours for a bath. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Prices and what affects them

There’s no charge for travel to St Nicholas. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
