Bath & shower resealing (mastic) in Stichill, Scottish Borders
Our technicians come to Stichill for bath, shower and sink resealing with new mould-resistant silicone. Nothing is taken out, and the work is guaranteed.
- Discoloured, yellow sealant
- Gaps by the taps
- Leaks at the edges

Bath resealing in Stichill, done in place
We cut out all of the old sealant, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Our technicians work on kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are black mould in the sealant and an untidy old seal.
Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Do you need bath resealing in Stichill?
Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning only removes the surface.
Send us a picture if you notice any of these:
- Black spots in the silicone
- Silicone coming away from the tiles
- Discoloured, yellow sealant
- Damp near the bath

What your bath or shower is made of matters
Sinks and worktops
We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.
Baths
We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.
Stichill: your questions answered
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
Is my repair covered?
All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.
Do the materials smell?
Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.
Can you price it without visiting?
Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.
How quickly can you book me in?
That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.
Are there extra charges for Stichill?
Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.
When we would advise against a repair
Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
- A flexing bath
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
Surfaces we repair
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Wet rooms
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
Is resealing worth it?
Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to care for the repair
Aftercare is simple:
- Clean the sealant gently and regularly
- Air the room after use
- Replace the seal when mould sets in
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.
Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
Work for landlords and builders
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

The process
On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take around two hours. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.
- We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
- We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
- The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
- We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.
Preparing for the visit
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Let us know about parking or access

- How much damage there is
- Unusual colours or finishes

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
How to get a fixed quote
Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. It helps if you send:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
