Bath resealing in Stone

Bath resealing in Stone without replacing anything

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Fresh joints make the entire room look cleaner, and they protect the walls and floor. We regularly repair shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths, and people most often call us about damp near the bath and an untidy old seal.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Work for landlords and builders

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Dorset and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Do you need bath resealing in Stone?

In time, even good sealant discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Unsealed corners
  • Damp near the bath
  • Sealant that is split or lifting

How to compare quotes

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Air the room after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Your questions about bath resealing in Stone

How long does a reseal take?

A bath or shower generally takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Do you cover Stone?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Stone and the rest of Dorset. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Prices and what affects them

You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • The material and finish
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How to get a fixed price

Phone photos are fine. Make sure they show:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath or shower, we can price the job the same day in most cases.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A flexing bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes about two hours for a bath. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.
