Bath resealing in Sutton-on-Hull

About our bath resealing in Sutton-on-Hull

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Typical jobs include sealant that’s split or lifting and leaks at the edges, across kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and wet rooms.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What affects the price in Sutton-on-Hull

Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How much damage there is
  • How hard the colour is to match

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed quote

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • The material, if you know it

Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Sutton-on-Hull, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow about two hours for a bath. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
