About our bath resealing in The Avenues

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and a new seal stops it. Common call-outs are for discoloured, yellow sealant and sealant that’s split or lifting, across shower trays & enclosures, baths and basins & vanity units.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take about two hours for a bath, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Getting a price

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in The Avenues, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll price them together.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Common problems we fix in The Avenues

Poor ventilation speeds things up: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Damp near the bath
  • Black spots in the silicone

10 questions to ask before booking

How to look after the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

The Avenues questions

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Do you work in The Avenues?

We do. Repair technicians travel to The Avenues from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How long does silicone take to cure?

You will get the curing time from us, generally around a day.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Why it’s worth resealing in The Avenues

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Why us?

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Everything repaired in place
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
