Bath resealing in Inglemire

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Inglemire as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

About our bath resealing in Inglemire

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint opens fully, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. We regularly repair kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and baths, and people most often call us about silicone coming away from the tiles and discoloured, yellow sealant.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

Sealant does not last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Clients usually contact us about:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

What your quote should include

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How to look after the finish

Choosing a repair company

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take around two hours. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Advice

What bath resealing costs

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. Try to include:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Why reseal now?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is and protects the walls and floor. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Open a window after bathing

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.
