Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

When we would advise against a repair

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Why it’s worth resealing in Tavistock

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Tavistock. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why book with us

  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

How to look after the repair

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Air the room after use
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
