Bath resealing in and around The Bodnetts: a fixed quote from photos, a tidy visit and a one-year guarantee.
- Stained silicone
- Water getting behind the bath or tray
- Black mould in the sealant

How the visit works
On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes about two hours for a bath. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
- We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
- We clean, treat and dry the joint.
- Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know about parking or access
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How we handle bath resealing in The Bodnetts
All of the old sealant is cut out, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. We regularly repair basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths, and the jobs we see most are a messy previous reseal and water getting behind the bath or tray.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in The Bodnetts as everywhere else we work.

Honest limits
We will not take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
- Hidden water damage
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Looking after it afterwards
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
- Replace the seal when mould sets in
- Air the room after use
- Give the seal a regular clean
Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.
Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
