Bath resealing in Thorney Holme, done in place

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s stained silicone and a messy previous reseal, we can help, whatever the material.

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Lancashire.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Thorney Holme: your questions answered

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, so Thorney Holme is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

How long does resealing take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Common problems we fix in Thorney Holme

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • An untidy old seal

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What happens if they find more damage

Choosing a repair company

What affects the price in Thorney Holme

Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Thorney Holme. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

You can normally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Work for landlords and builders

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Lancashire and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

When we would advise against a repair

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

  • We leave the room as we found it
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. It normally takes a couple of hours.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Make sure the area is dry

Ask for a price

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath or shower, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.
