What we are called out for in Thornwood

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:

  • Stained silicone
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • An untidy old seal
  • Gaps by the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • When it can be used again

Our hiring checklist

When we’d advise against a repair

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It generally takes about two hours for a bath, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Open a window if you can
  • Clear the area around the damage

How we price bath resealing

There is no area surcharge for Thornwood. What changes the price is:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How much damage there is
  • The type of damage

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Thornwood. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

Why it’s worth resealing in Thornwood

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Questions from Thornwood

Do you work in Thornwood?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Thornwood from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

What does bath resealing cost?

The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Ventilate the bathroom well

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.
