When we’d advise against a repair

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths

  • Wet rooms

Bath resealing in Tranmere, done in place

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. We work on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people contact us are black mould in the sealant and old sealant that looks dirty.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Landlord and trade work in Tranmere

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Tranmere questions

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

How long does resealing take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone won’t bond to old.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Why reseal now?

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why us?

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

How the visit works

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes about two hours for a bath, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
