Bath resealing in Tremorfa

Bath resealing in Tremorfa, done in place

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Whether it’s old sealant that looks dirty and black spots in the silicone, we can help, on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and baths alike.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

How it works

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes a couple of hours. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How we price bath resealing

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Access to the area
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Getting a price from photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Repairs by material

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing costs very little and protects the walls and floor. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Tremorfa questions

How much does bath resealing cost in Tremorfa?

Every job gets a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item with your CF24 postcode.

How long does resealing take?

Usually a couple of hours, plus curing time.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.
