Why it’s worth resealing in Trevor

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book.

When to call us in Trevor

Sealant doesn’t last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Gaps by the taps
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Mould you can’t clean out

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Aftercare advice
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether they match the colour on site

10 questions to ask before you book

What bath resealing costs

There’s no area surcharge for Trevor. What changes the price is:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Trevor. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Denbighshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Trevor: your questions answered

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Do you work in Trevor?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Trevor. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Are there extra charges for Trevor?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath or shower and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone won’t bond to old.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

When a repair is not the answer

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we work on in Trevor

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes a couple of hours. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
