Bath resealing for Turn homes

Bath resealing at your home in Turn

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. Common call-outs are for leaks at the edges and unsealed corners, across basins & vanity units, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Turn

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Bury and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

What happens on the day

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes a couple of hours. We leave the room clean.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

What we cannot put right

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Turn: your questions answered

What happens if you find more damage?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Do you cover the entire of Bury?

We work UK-wide, so Turn is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Do you come to Turn?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Turn. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What we are called out for in Turn

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

The things clients usually mention when they call include:

  • Stained silicone
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

What your quote should include

  • What preparation is included
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether the price covers travel

10 questions to ask before booking

Prices and what affects them

There is no area surcharge for Turn. What changes the price is:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Getting a price from photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath or shower, we can price the job.

Why reseal now?

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Why Turn customers choose us

  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Work done at your home or business
