Trusted bath resealing in Twydall

Bath resealing in Twydall, done in place

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed using mould-resistant silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours. We work on kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are old sealant that looks dirty and sealant that’s split or lifting.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Medway.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes about two hours for a bath in most cases. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

What we cannot put right

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • A flexing bath
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.

Questions from Twydall

How long does silicone take to cure?

You’ll get the curing time from us.

Which areas do you work in?

The whole UK, including all of Medway. Send your postcode with your photos and we’ll offer you dates.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Do you come to Twydall?

We do. Technicians travel to Twydall from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Landlord and trade work in Twydall

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Medway and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Keep the joints dry

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

What bath resealing costs

You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any details about the material
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
