Bath resealing near Upton Lovell

Bath resealing in Upton Lovell, done in place

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Typical jobs include silicone smeared on tiles and leaks at the edges, in basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & sinks.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

What bath resealing costs

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

When we’d advise against a repair

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • A flexing bath
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we are called out for in Upton Lovell

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • Leaks at the edges
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Black mould in the sealant

10 questions to ask before booking

Questions from Upton Lovell

Why does mould come back so fast?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Are there extra charges for Upton Lovell?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What do you need from me?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Do you cover Upton Lovell?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Upton Lovell and the rest of Wiltshire. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which generally takes about two hours for a bath. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.
