Bath resealing in Warmwell without replacing anything

All of the old sealant is cut out, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. If you’re dealing with discoloured, yellow sealant and silicone coming away from the tiles, we can generally put it right.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Dorset.

Why it’s worth resealing in Warmwell

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Warmwell: your questions answered

How quickly can you book me in?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Generally because the bath or tray moves. We seal baths full of water.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Usually after around 24 hours. We confirm before we leave.

Do you cover the entire of Dorset?

Everywhere in the UK, Warmwell included. Travel is included in the price.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing to keep mould away.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Common problems we fix in Warmwell

Sealant doesn’t last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Look out for these signs:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Gaps by the taps
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • A messy previous reseal

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What preparation is included
  • How soon you can use it again
  • How to care for the finish

The process

You don’t need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take about two hours for a bath, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear the area around the damage

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
