About our bath resealing in West Kington

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, as one neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s sealant that’s split or lifting and water getting behind the bath or tray, we can normally put it right.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

How we price bath resealing

A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Doing more than one item at once

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.

Send photos for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Any details about the material
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Upload pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in West Kington, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Resealing in West Kington: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

When a repair is not the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

Common questions in West Kington

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

How long will it take?

Most reseals take about two hours. It then needs time to cure.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Do you need bath resealing in West Kington?

Even good sealant eventually discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

People normally call us when they notice one of these:

  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Sealant that is split or lifting

Comparing quotes

  • Who will actually do the work
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Choosing a repair company

Looking after it afterwards

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
