Bath resealing in Westbury-on-Trym, done in place

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint opens fully, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Whether it’s discoloured, yellow sealant and silicone smeared on tiles, we can usually put it right.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Keep the joints dry

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow around two hours from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Landlords, agents and businesses in Westbury-on-Trym

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

How we price bath resealing

Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How much damage there is
  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed price

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To make it quick:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Most clients in Westbury-on-Trym get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
