Bath repair across BS9: what to expect
Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in a single visit. We’re often asked to fix holes from dropped items and scratches you can feel with a fingernail, on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It generally takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.
Prices in BS9

Work for landlords and builders
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Bristol and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.
Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in BS9 use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.
DIY kit or professional repair?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
How we price bath repair
Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to BS9. The price comes down to:
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- The material
- How hard the colour is to match
- Whether we combine several jobs
Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
Getting a price from photos
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- What it’s made of, if you know
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.
When a repair isn’t the answer
Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
Keeping it looking good
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust sets in.
If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
Your questions about bath repair in BS9
Will you leave a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
Can rust on a bath be repaired?
Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.
Does someone need to be in?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
How invisible is a bath repair?
On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
What happens if you find more damage?
Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.
Can you quote from photos?
Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
