About our bath resealing in Withdean

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Whether it’s an untidy old seal and gaps in the seal, we can help, whatever the material.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

Why reseal now?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why Withdean customers choose us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Work done at your home or business

FAQs for Withdean

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We’ll tell you the exact time.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Can new silicone go over old?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK. Prices do not change with location.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

How it works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take about two hours for a bath, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

How to get a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Related advice

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

When we’d advise against a repair

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • A flexing bath
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
